Baptist Health Urgent Care Express operates 20+ locations across Miami-Dade, including high-traffic spots in Brickell, Coral Gables, Doral, Kendall, Pinecrest, and Miami Beach. Most are open 8am–8pm on weekdays and 9am–5pm on weekends. The Brickell location on South Miami Avenue is one of the busiest — expect longer waits at lunch and after 5pm.

UHealth Jackson Urgent Care runs a smaller footprint: Downtown Miami, Miami Lakes, Doral, Kendall, and Coral Gables. Hours are similar (typically 8am–8pm) but some locations close earlier on Sundays. UHealth is affiliated with the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, so specialist referrals stay inside a large academic health system.

Baptist's Urgent Care Express supports online check-in and shows estimated wait times per location on their website. In our review of a typical Tuesday afternoon, Brickell showed 45–75 minutes, while Doral and Kendall were 15–30 minutes. Weekends and Monday mornings run longer.

UHealth walk-ins don't always publish real-time waits, but average door-to-provider time is 30–60 minutes at most locations. If you have a primary care doctor inside UHealth or Jackson Health, urgent care staff can pull your full chart, which speeds up decisions on imaging and medication.

Baptist Health accepts most major plans: Florida Blue (BlueCare, BlueOptions, BlueSelect), Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, AvMed, Humana, Ambetter from Sunshine Health, and Medicare. Baptist is in-network for most Florida Blue ACA marketplace plans, which matters if your plan restricts you to a narrow network.

UHealth also accepts Florida Blue, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, AvMed, and Medicare, plus Ambetter for many plan tiers. UHealth Urgent Care handles the same conditions plus more complex hand-offs to specialists via the UM Health System. If your urgent visit reveals something like a suspected DVT, a concerning mole, or an abnormal EKG, UHealth can typically get you a next-day or same-week appointment with a specialist inside the network. All UHealth urgent care locations have on-site X-ray and lab draw.

For pediatric urgent care specifically, Baptist Children's Urgent Care Express (separate from adult locations) sees kids from newborn to age 21 and is open until 10pm at several locations. This is usually the fastest option for after-hours pediatric care in Miami.

UHealth doesn't operate a dedicated pediatric urgent care, but Jackson Memorial's Holtz Children's Hospital ER is a Level 1 pediatric trauma center — for serious pediatric emergencies (breathing difficulty, high fever in an infant under 3 months, head injuries), that's the safer destination than any urgent care.

Urgent care handles minor and moderate conditions. Chest pain, stroke symptoms (facial droop, arm weakness, slurred speech), severe abdominal pain, difficulty breathing, heavy bleeding, head injury with loss of consciousness, or any symptom that feels genuinely dangerous belongs at an ER — Baptist Hospital, Jackson Memorial, Mount Sinai, or the closest ER.
